Five habits that improve life with your horse
Routine, observation and consistency do more for the relationship than any single technique.

Small actions repeated every day build trust. Here are five simple habits that make a difference.
1. Keep a routine
Predictable times for feeding, turnout and work reduce a horse’s anxiety.
2. Observe before you act
A few seconds looking at the ears, eyes and posture tell you a lot about how your horse is that day.
3. Be consistent
The same cue should always mean the same thing. Changing the rules is confusing.
4. End on a good note
Finishing a session after a success leaves a positive memory for the next one.
5. Spend time asking for nothing
Grooming, hand-walking or simply being nearby, with no demands, is also part of the relationship.
